august 2020 tunes~

I wanted to share some songs I've been really digging this past month. I think I'm going to start a series about monthly music mixes / finds that described my month.

I'm not the best recently with finding new music, however, this month has been full of chill music. I've been straying away from listening to my usual Korean hip-hop/rap and transitioned to folky and chill night vibes. This really has helped me feel cozy at night while trying to wind down after working a crap ton. This type of music too has helped me want to explore creating expressive works such as journaling, making this blog, and working on myself.

I go through phases, as most people do, about what genre of music I listen to. I reverted listening to some Mumford & Sons, but found that they were a bit too hyped up for me and the mood I try to set in my cozy room. Instead, I've been listening a lot to Beta Radio, explored more of Mandolin Orange, and discovered Hollow Coves. All of these artists have really wholesome, "I'm in a cabin by the fireplace in the winter" vibes.

I wanted to make a record of songs that I've discovered in August that fall into this "cozy chill" summer nights vibe I've been setting myself up for August. There have been plenty more artists and songs I've been digging, but I just wanted to make a short playlist for you to get the gist with.

The playlist is below~ Sorry, I use YouTube Music and may or may not put in the effort to make a Spotify version of the playlist.

  1. It's Called: Freefall by Rainbow Kitten Surprise

  2. To Build A Home by The Cinematic Orchestra

  3. Pour Me by moonweather

  4. The Night We Met by Lord Huron

  5. Coastline by Hollow Coves

  6. Bayou by Mountains of the Moon

  7. Beggar's Song by Matt Maeson

  8. Loving Someone by The 1975

  9. Golden Embers by Mandolin Orange
